PRIVACY - VIRTUAL FITTING ROOMS

Try It On. We Forget You Were Here.

2 min read

Virtual Fitting Rooms are a growing trend. More shoppers expect to see how clothes look on them before buying. But what happens to their photo after they try something on?

You're uploading a picture of yourself to a website you might be visiting for the first time. That takes trust.

71% of shoppers say they actively look for privacy features before engaging with tools that require personal data.

We don't train AI on your customers' photos

We're a European startup. GDPR isn't something we bolted on. We built around it. The shopper consents before anything happens. After that, photos are kept only as long as you, the merchant, allow. The maximum is 3 days. You pick the window.

Why allow any storage at all? Quality control on your end, and so the shopper can come back to the product page and still see their result. When the window closes, the photo is gone.

If a customer wants their photo deleted before the timer runs out, they can. GDPR Article 17 gives them that right, and we've made it simple.

The ability for the customer to withdraw consent and have their data deleted at any time

Right to Erasure, Article 17

A few things worth saying plainly:

->

We don't train our AI on customer photos. Never have.

->

Customer images don't leave the processing pipeline. No third parties, no external databases.

->

The only time we keep data beyond processing is for debugging, and only within the retention window the merchant sets.

->

A photo comes in, a try-on result goes out. We don't repurpose or redistribute anything.

->

You set the retention. Your customer controls their consent.

Built to Protect Both Sides

Privacy goes beyond photo storage. We're a European startup, built under some of the strictest data protection laws in the world. bitStudio's Virtual Fitting Room comes with clear terms that protect everyone involved.

Everyone. Not just the shopper and their data, but the vendor too. AI generates photos, and not everyone uses that responsibly.

That's why terms of service matter. They put responsibility where it belongs.

We've built simple, clear terms so both the vendor and the person uploading are protected. Before a customer uploads a photo, they confirm they have full rights to the image and that they are at least 18 years old. Photos of minors are not allowed.

Uploading someone else's photo without their consent is prohibited.

bitStudio's technology is the cutting edge of virtual try-on. But even the best AI needs something to work with. We always recommend uploading a clear, well-lit photo. The better the image, the better the result. Not everyone does this, and that's exactly why we're upfront about it: try-on results are AI-generated visualizations. Actual fit, color, and proportions can vary. We encourage shoppers to check size charts and product details before purchasing.

Results are for personal, non-commercial use only.

These safeguards exist for a reason. They protect your customers, protect your store, and keep the fitting room used the way it's meant to be.

Why this matters for your conversion rate

Privacy isn't just about compliance. It directly affects whether customers use the tool at all.

When they do, they try more on, buy with more confidence, and send less back.

Stores using virtual try-on see double-digit conversion increases and style-related returns drop by up to 35%.

The bottom line

Virtual Fitting Rooms should help your customers feel confident about what they're buying. It shouldn't make them uncomfortable about their data.

With bitStudio, we figured it out for you. We don't keep anything for ourselves. And every customer sees exactly what the rules are before they upload.
